The School Economic Education program teacher from Baku, Ms. Naila Ahmadova received the Honorary Teacher of Economics degree from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Ms. Ahmedova joined Junior Achievement Azerbaijan activities in 2000 from Baku School #132. A year later her school became one of ten schools to pioneer with SEE. In 2002, Naila Ahmadova received the Trainer of Trainers status from JA Azerbaijan and since then has trained more than 200 teachers on economics and SEE activity implementation. Starting July 16 the Community Economic Education Program (COMEEP) brought nine successful program participants to job places in Baku, Ganje and Yevlakh to learn about careers first-hand. September 2007, JA Azerbaijan released the new version of the Economics textbook that will be used in schools selected this year for the School Economic Education Program (SEE) and School Economic and Business Education Program (SEBE). The textbooks content adoption and upgrade was made possible through the grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).USAID and British Petroleum and partner companies funded the publication and distribution of the textbooks to 65 secondary schools in twelve regions. In 2007, the School Economic Education Program (SEE) expanded its activities into five colleges and 45 public schools in twelve regions in Baku, Sumqayit, Mingechevir, Ganje, Ali Bayramli, Masalli, Kurdamir, Naftalan, Shamakhi, Salyan and Agstafa increasing the number of schools participating in projects on market economy to 230 in Azerbaijans 26 regions.Since 2003, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, SEE has introduced the Economics subject into Azerbaijani secondary schools using new teaching methodology and Junior Achievement Economics curriculum. Every year the School Economic Education programs most successful students intern with JAA partner companies. From July to September 2007, thirteen SEE students (winners of the Student Companies, Global Business Ethics, and National Management and Economics competition) worked with career advisors at Statoil Azerbaijan, McDermott Caspian Contractors, Exxon Azerbaijan, AIG and KCA Deutag to gain a first-hand look at what opportunities are available in the business world. The School Economic Education program's (SEE) alumni team (from the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy) became world champions at the 12th Annual Hewlett Packard Global Business Challenge (HPGBC).
