On June 17, 2005, JAA organized a ceremony on the occasion of successful participation of Azerbaijani teams in Hewlett Packard Global Business Challenge (HPGBC) international competition in Hyatt Regency Hotel. For five years JAA has been sponsoring teams from Azerbaijan schools to compete in the HPGBC International Competition. Each year JAA organizes a country-wide challenge to prepare for the international competition in which teams from regions around Azerbaijan (Baku, Absheron, Sumqayit, Lankaran and Ismayilli) compete in the “National Applied Economics Competition". 30 Azerbaijan teams have participated in the HPGBC international competition since February, 2005. Since then up to June JAA sponsored and consulted those teams. Students' teams perform as imaginary businesses in applying economics and management decision making which involves simulated business conditions. They make decisions on pricing, production, marketing, investment, and R&D. Each period of the simulation, which is considered a business cycle, the students' companies look at industry and company reports, and analyze financial and other data to make rational business decisions. Profits earned by companies reflect their ranking in each group. The more profit the better ranking! In this respect, Borchali team advanced semi-finals and demonstrated positive results. Noting the success and abilities of the Azerbaijan teams, JAA Trainer, Naila Ahmadova, explained, "Throughout the years our teams have demonstrated positive results; they put all their efforts into the competition and gained leadership skills in the process". Team leader at the school #95 Azer Ismayilov proudly said that his team had already participated in the competition twice and demonstrated their excellence. He expected a good performance from our teams this year as well, and wished good luck to all of them.
