PRESS RELEASE
Bakcell, Alcatel-Lucent, and Junior Achievement Azerbaijan Launch Second Phase of Introduction to Mobile Telecommunication Business Program
Date published: Oct 01 2010
Press Releases >>

In September 2010, with the support of Bakcell Ltd. and in partnership with Alcatel-Lucent Azerbaijan, Junior Achievement Azerbaijan launched the second phase of the Introduction to Mobile Telecommunications Business Program. The two-year program will support 90 undergraduate students with technical backgrounds to obtain the work-readiness and business ethics skills, learn about the mobile telecommunications through the industry-specific practical training program, and apply the knowledge gained in the actual workplace through the internship program at Bakcell and Alcatel-Lucent.

The new phase of the Introduction to Mobile Telecommunications Program started in September 2010 and will continue until August 2012. Along with the student capacity-building activities, the program envisions the development of the internship program curriculum for the mobile telecommunications company.

In partnership with Bakcell, Junior Achievement Azerbaijan initiated the first phase of the pilot project in 2009. Throughout the year, 54 students benefited from the program. As a result of this partnership, a unique training resource on the mobile telecommunications business was created in Azerbaijani and English.

QUOTE

Junior Achievement provides teachers, and schools with concrete programmes, and allows students to learn how to put theory into practice and to understand what entrepreneurship is about. In this way students gain self-confidence and motivation, become proactive and learn how to work in a team. This is an important investment in Europe's future.

--- Jose Manuel Barroso,
President of the European Commission
