In August 2008, British Council and Junior Achievement Azerbaijan signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the Skills@Work Challenge in 2008/9.
The Skills@Work Challenge is a national and international competition to encourage young people to use their skills in enterprising and innovative ways, ultimately increasing their employability and entrepreneurial flair. The contest is designed to deliver valuable entrepreneurial experience to students from twelve vocational and technical colleges in
Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja, Guba, Mingechevir and Lenkaran.
Within the project, British Council and JA Azerbaijan will organize one Skills@Work challenge that will involve 100 students to participate in a one-day event. British Council and JA Azerbaijan will work together to determine the challenges and the selection of judges, to involve local business partners, and to leverage resources to increase the number of challenges and maximize impact. The project winners will get an opportunity to participate in the Skills@Work Championship event in
Bulgaria in 2009.
