On January 27-28 2010 Junior Achievement Azerbaijan together with the British Council, Azercell Telecom LLC Company and Microsoft Azerbaijan will conduct national finals of 2010 Skills@Work Challenge competition in Grand Hotel Europe.
The opening will take place on the 28th of January at 10.00 in Grand Hotel Europe and will bring around 100 students from 7 vocational technical schools to compete for the best decision on business case set before participants.
Supporting internationalism in the field of vocational education and training in South-East Europe and the UK, Skills@Work project covers eighteen countries. “Our purpose within Skills@Work project is to prevent existing challenges by attracting employers to the process of vocational skills development, and conforming business needs to situation in the field of education and training” - says Skills@Work project manager Natig Hajiyev.
Skills@Work Challenge, realised on British Council and JA Young Enterprise initiative, is a national and international competition, motivating youth to apply their skills in a business and innovative way, thereby ultimately increasing employability opportunities and entrepreneurial skills.
Executive Director of JA Azerbaijan, Vusal Khanlarov mentioned that preparation for competition started on October 2009. In selection process 240 young students from Baku and Quba have been checked on their entrepreneurial and teamwork skills. 20 teams that got a pass to the final on this stage will prepare business plan and present their ideas to jury. Jury, consisting of business representatives will evaluate the participants, basing on feasibility and innovativeness of their ideas, as well as presentation skills. Winner team will get opportunity to participate in the regional Skills@Work Challenge competition that will take part on the 21-25th of April 2010 in Belgrade, Serbia.
