June 27, Junior Achievement and Statoil Azerbaijan took twenty five Global Business Ethics program finalists to the Caspian Energy Center (CEC).
Established in 2005 by the initiative of BP and partners and co-financed by Statoil and other companies, the Caspian Energy Center is the unique exhibition of Azerbaijan oil and gas industry, presented through the use of innovative and educational computer simulations. The Center is an amazing experience for visitors where they can learn about oil, its extraction and utilization, oil products that vary from petroleum to textile, world's energy resources, and many others. CEC staff presented the students scientific shows, demonstrated the role of pressure in oil production, performed smart games, and displayed the animation about oil origin on the Earth. During the excurse the participants learned about gas and oil exploration, energy creation, work safety and responsibility to the environment and society. "We enjoyed our staying here. I was looking for an interesting tour, but the reality surpassed my expectations," - Dilare Mamedzade, a student of Mingechevir School #3, shares her impressions from the Center. "We discovered where oil and gas come from and why we need them, became aware about oilfields and energetic resources of our Republic; it is great to learn more about the country you live in."
JAA students visit to the Caspian Energy Center was supported by Statoil Azerbaijan, which cooperates with JAA since 2004. Statoil contributes to JA programs in Azerbaijan through the Board of Directors, through funding the organization's operations, and through providing volunteers for the Student Companies, the Student Business Day and the Work Experience Program.
